The Project: The project's aim is to help maintain the current stock of wagons and none passenger vehicles. It also intends to make serviceable those not yet restored to operational condition. Details about current work can be found in the Working Party Reports page and earlier restoration exercises can be found in the WHR Projects pages |
Wagons Roll We oiled the axleboxes on both DZ 1423 and DZ 1412 and noted some things to be actioned at our next working party. Then on DZ 1412 we took the main brake rigging apart and greased and replaced all items back as they were. We had some useful conversations as to how this team should proceed, and hopefully when we meet again, in June, there will be a few more volunteers involved. Wagons Roll team met at Dinas on June 20th and rubbed-down and painted the exterior of DZ1412. This is the first attention this vehicle has received since being painted grey by ACR ahead of its move to WHR in 1995. 50% of the exterior was complete by end of the day. as can be seen in the photo below.
The exterior of DZ1412 was duly completed during the working party of 29th & 30th August. It is now awaited for the contents of ash to be unloaded then the interior can be tackled. In the meantime the group has been asked to do some repairs to the brake van 3172 and so this will be discussed with Boston Lodge prior to work commencing at a future working party, the dates for which will be announced as soon as they're available.
Whilst not a Wagons Roll working party, on 31st
Oct 2010, at the request of Tony Williams, Marcus Ingram and Keith
Holland (aided briefly by one Peter Johnson) applied stencilled numbers
and labels to B wagons at Boston Lodge and Harbour. These wagons are
being used by the FR for conveying loco coal between Minffordd, the
Lodge and Port.
