Restored wagon at Dinas

The Project:

The project's aim is to help maintain the current stock of wagons and none passenger vehicles. It also intends to make serviceable those not yet restored to operational condition.

Details about current work can be found in the Working Party Reports page and  earlier restoration exercises can be found in the WHR Projects pages

Wagons Roll

Believe it or not, the railway now possesses more than 30 wagons, some serviceable, some not.

Recently, the railway management has been concerned that a backlog of maintenance of these vehicles has built up. This has mainly been due to the many other priorities on staff and volunteer time associated with extending the actual railway itself. In particular, Marcus Ingram, who is responsible for most of the wagon restoration that has been done to date, has had a change in his work/life situation which prevents him visiting the WHR as often as in the past.

Consequently a plan has evolved to form a volunteer team to work specifically on the basic TLC requirements of our wagon fleet. We intend to call this team WAGONS ROLL.

The working parties are normally held at Dinas and all offers of involvement from any members would be very welcome. Naturally if you possess some engineering skills that is a bonus, but ANYBODY keen on getting dirty will be warmly received. Indeed, it is our intention, in due course, to ask the Company to provide some training where a need is identified. No doubt this will become known as "Wagon Train".
