The Project: To help the company in its task of laying track and keeping that already laid in first class condition. |
WHR Volunteer Track Work programme From January 2011 you will be
able to take the
train from Porthmadog along the WHR main line. We can all
rightly
be proud of the imminent prospect of WHR passenger trains running on
the WHR from Harbour Station. But there is still a lot to do
on
the track before trains can run regularly all the way from Caernarfon
to Porthmadog. Black Hand Gang
Rest of the World Gang
For the post Christmas period we may run something between Tuesday 28th and Friday 31st December, probably at Dinas. It depends on your support. Let me know as soon as possible if you might be interested in joining us as we need to judge what the interest will be. No firm arrangements yet but there are sidings to be built and various other jobs needed there. 2011 Looking ahead to 2011 we are going to make some changes to the way in which ROWG volunteering dates are arranged. The Black Hand Gang will continue to operate on a fortnightly cycle and the Tuesday Gang expects to be out on the WHR pretty well every Tuesday. So that you can get them into your diary the 2011 dates for BHG and ROWG will be: Black Hand Gang
^ = Bank Holiday weekend # = Possibly Santa trains? Rest of the World Gang As a break with the format we have followed since the start of Phase 4 the Rest of the World Gang will move on to an approximately monthly pattern with a mix of long weekends (Friday to Monday) and working weeks.
week = Saturday to Friday ^ = Bank Holiday The end of the March week, the weekends of the Bank
Holidays, the July week and August long weekend are in periods when
hostel accommodation at Minffordd and Penrhyn can be expected to be
much in demand. It is suggested you make your booking early if
you wish to stay in one of the hostels then. Tuesday Gang expect to be operating pretty well every Tuesday in locations all round the WHR.
