Society Sub-Groups The Society has several sub-groups across the UK.These sub-groups have been set up in areas where a good number of Society members lived in order to give a more local focus to the railway. They have proved very effective in bringing members together for social evenings and outside visits to other railways. The groups also work on projects such as restoring the loco K1, installing water tanks, tracklaying and fundraising. They can enable people to become involved in a practical way through 'homework' and other locally based projects without always having to travel long distances to the railway itself. The Society's Group Coordinator is Neil McMasterIf there is no group near you, why not look at setting one up? Forming a group is very easy; the Society has a well-proven process, which Neil McMaster can guide you through. Funds for start-up costs such as a mail shot to other members in your area and the hire of a venue can be made available to assist. The Society will provide the address labels for the mail shot. Welsh Highland Railway Heritage Group: This is a group dedicated to study and preservation of the history of the Welsh Highland Railway. It is not part of the WHRS but its aims are fully endorsed by the Society.
